A Day to Remember

So the weather is finally turning nice again here in the midwest and I couldn’t be any happier.  I also found a new job after that nightmare of a day in the “sales” world.  I got hired at a local advertising firm doing some work in their marketing department.  My first day was great.  I am going to be working with a bunch of great people, mostly young.  The office building is super cool too.  Its like something you would see in a movie.  Free soda and snacks too…can’t beat that.

My new manager’s name is Beth and she is a hipster.  She wears dark rimmed glasses and has a really funky haircut.  We had a long talk this morning and she told me what some of her favorite bands are and we just so happen to like a lot of the same music.  We are both actually going to the Wilco concert at the Pageant this summer.  I cannot wait for that show.  I have been a fan of that band for a long time and their latest album is the bomb.

Anyway, so my first day at my new job flew by.  There was a group of people headed for drinks and one of them asked me if I’d like to tag along.  I said, “Absolutely!” and met the group at a bar called Jimmy’s.  It was a cute little place with a relaxing patio out back.  We grabbed a large table and sat down.  The waitress came over and took our drink order.  I was in a festive mood so I ordered a large margarita.  I guzzled it down and was starting to have a really good time with my new co-workers.

A girl by the name of Betsy whom I was sitting next to asked me if I was single.  I told her that I was and wondered why she was asking.  She told me she had a single guy friend that would be great for me.  She showed me a picture and I was definitely interested.  She gave me his number and we started texting him immediately…the booze was helping my confidence.  So long story short, I set up a date with this guy and we are going out next Friday.  I’m so excited.

Needless to say, I was having a great day.  Jimmy’s was close enough to my house so I was able to walk home.  No need to ruin this day with a DUI.  So things are looking up.  I was pretty down in the dumps a couple of weeks ago after getting fired after my first day of sales.  Hopefully today was a sign of good things to come.
